remember the film, american beauty? it was directed by sam mendes (kate winslets husband), and it starred kevin spacey, annette benning, and mena suvari, as the blonde teenage beauty. Kevin spacey was going through a mid-life crisis, married to the uptight benning, and suvari was a friend of his high school-aged daughter, and spacey fell in love (or was it lust?) with suvaris character.

the most famous scene from the movie was when spacey was fantasizing about suvari and she was lying on a white sheeted bed and red rose petals were falling all around her. The fact that suvari was topless in the scene (apparently because she was supposedly under age) caused quite a stir. But of course most of the world was asking why couldnt we see more?
